My cat disappeared for a month

My neutered 2 year old male cat got out and disappeared for a month. We also have another cat who is a 9 month old female. Before his horrible disappearance they were best friends and loved each other. Now after his return they won't get close and keep hissing at each other. He is also acting extra needy, loving, and is skinny. My questions are: Why are both of the cats behaving like this? Should I be caring for my cat differently after his return?

Wish i could help you, I have just started learning about cats sounds almost like a dominance issue and have you had your cat to the vet as FIV can be reason for weight loss. Hoping they settle and learn to enjoy each others company. Good luck hope someone can answer your question - will check on line and see what i come up with.

Since he was gone for so long he probably had to learn to be aggressive from living on the streets.... I would think to give him some time and hopefully they will get along again soon.

I think time and a little extra love and atention for them both. Sounds like he had to tend for himself while he was lost.
Maybe a trip to the vets to make sure he is ok would be a good idea too xx
